Best Pancakes EVER!!!

Be shocked, I cooked!  I decided to venture out from my little world of frozen meals and actually cook something.  Lulu has gotten on a kick that everything in her world revolves around Peppa Pig.  If you’re a mom of a kiddo somewhere between the ages of 2 and 6, you probably know exactly who I’m talking about.

Anyway, Lulu just happened to see the YouTube video of the Peppa Pig pancake and thinks it’s just the coolest thing (kinda have to agree with her there, who would have ever thought to do that with a pancake).

Yup, ^^^ that video.

So when I asked her what she wanted for breakfast this morning, cereal or a pop tart just wouldn’t do.  Peppa Pig pancakes was the request (because apparently regular round pancakes are just not good enough anymore).

So this is what you will need…
A Ketchup or Mustard bottle to “draw” with
Pancake batter (my favorite recipe below)
Your imagination

Basic Pancake Recipe
2 cups self-rising flour
1 egg
2 tablespoons sugar
1 ½ cup milk (may have to use more or less)

Add your flour and sugar to a bowl and stir until combined.  Then add your egg.  Slowly add your milk until you get your batter to the right consistency (too thin and your pancakes will be thinner, too thick and they will be harder to pour).  Stir well until the batter is smooth and there are no more lumps.

If you are “drawing” your pancakes, use a funnel and add your batter to your Mustard/Ketchup bottle.  If you are just making regular pancakes, you can spoon the batter onto the griddle with a spoon.  Heat your griddle or pan to ~350°F.  When drawing your pancakes, the outlines of your picture will need to be the first ones you draw since they will brown faster than the rest of the pancake.  Once you draw your outlines, fill in the rest of the area with batter.  Once that side has turned a golden brown color, flip your pancake to finish cooking.  See pictures below of our pancake attempts…

 Bug wanted a heart pancake

And since everybody else was getting fancy pancakes I decided I wanted a flower!

Regular Pancakes (Since Mr. Grey didn't want any special drawings): This is what they look like when it's time to flip them (see the bubbles)... Nice golden brown color

So enjoy!  Get creative!  And most importantly, HAVE FUN!
