Thirsty Thursday!!!

Hello Thursday! I love this day of the week, because it means we’ve made it over the hump and are finally in the homestretch of the work week.  If you’re like me and have already started your Thursday, it means you only have one more day that you have to set an alarm and drag yourself into work.  Since my wonderful Twisted Sister, Twisted Duck, celebrated Winesday with you yesterday, I’m going to celebrate Thirsty Thursday, or Thirstday, with you today.

While my sister is more of a casual wine drinker (I admit, I like a good glass of wine too), I prefer the more fruity mixed drinks.  In her words to me yesterday, I prefer not to taste my alcohol.  And she’s pretty much right (Shhhhhh… don’t you dare tell her I said that).  So while she was drinking her wine and celebrating Winesday with you yesterday, I was celebrating Thirstday a little early.

By some miracle, I found myself being able to go out after work with two of my other close friends that I haven’t seen in a while, while Mr. Grey stayed at home with our two little minions (if you’re a mom like me, you know how very rare those moments are).  So I took the chance to celebrate!  While there are a lot of mixed drinks that I enjoy (and trust me there’s a LOT), I went with my go to drink of choice, a lemon drop martini.  To me, it has just the right amount of tang while still being sweet.  It was absolutely delicious, was wonderfully made, my only complaint being that they didn’t coat the rim with sugar L   Great conversation was shared (over 3 hours), many laughs, and much fun!  Can’t wait to get together with those girls again (hoping our next reunion will be a grownup trip to Disney World and/or Hogwarts)!

Lemon Drop Martini
1 ½ oz vodka (be sure to get a good quality vodka, the cheaper brands tend to not be as clean and smooth and can sometimes be hotter and burn the mouth{My favorite brands are Absolut, Skyy, Grey Goose, and Belvedere})
½ oz triple sec
¾ oz lemon juice
1 tsp fine sugar

Chill the martini glass for approximately 10 minutes before serving.  Mix the vodka, triple sec, sugar, and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker, half filled with ice.  Shake well until sugar is blended.  Coat the rim of your martini glass with sugar. Pour the strained liquor into your sugar-rimmed martini glass and enjoy!
^^^^ THE GOOD STUFF^^^^
