Anyways...so Doodle's bumps. I've had the doctor look at them each time she goes in for a check up, with not much relief. They'll go away in 6-18 months, he says. Just wait it out, he says. Don't get me wrong, we LOVE our doctor. But I'm mama....it's my job to protect my kids. Her walking around looking like she's covered in warts or ant bites is not my idea of protecting her. If my kid was playing with a friend who had this mess all over her, I'd be a little bit nervous (don't lie, you'd judge too...it's what moms do). Doc says it's a viral rash that will run its course. Maybe. But she's a kid...she scratches herself. Then the bumps spread. Right now, it looks like she's got chicken pox behind her knees. Poor girl, it's now hot where we live, and she loathes jeans. Bug wants to wear shorts, and I can't blame her.
So as all good parents do these days, I scoured the internet for help. I'm not one to pump different mess and vitamins in my kids body....a well balanced meal takes care of that just fine (and yes, a Happy Meal can be a well balanced meal-you hush). Then I started coming across testimonies about Apple Cider Vinegar. Let's all say it together... WTF? Put vinegar on my child's lily white skin...the skin I love to tickle and hug...you want me to put an acid on that precious skin? But I kept reading, desperate to find her some relief. People in masses seemed to have good results. Being realistic, it's not an end all cure all, but it might be worth a shot to decrease these unsightly bumps.
Yesterday was the first day we tried it. Based on numerous recommendations, I let her soak the bumps in the tub before nap time (soaking helps pull the virus to the surface), then pulled out the cotton balls and medical tape and set out to cover a handful of bumps. I soaked pieces of the cotton balls in the ACV and then taped them to her legs.
She actually took a decent nap (long enough to let me cut the grass) and then we started pulling off the bandages. They looked like people had described, started to turn white {insert happy hopeful mom squeal}. So she played through the afternoon and it's time for a bath. I poured some ACV in the tub and let her soda for about 10 minutes before she showered. Then let her wear pants to bed without bandages.
This morning, they are starting to look dark! {more happy squealing} Everyone says that's a good sign, that the virus is dying and it's starting to scab over.
We are going to bandage and soak again to day to keep the momentum going. I feel crazy, trying to Doctor Mom these things, but damnit....I want them gone! I'll update in a few days as days as to how this is working (she goes back to her dad tomorrow afternoon) but keep your fingers crossed that it helps my Doodlebug find some relief! Now go enjoy the rest of the weekend and play with your kids!

How did things turn out? My little guy has this too. Mom will be taking him to the doctor to confirm but this looks and sounds exactly like what he has. Might as well try this home remedy as well. He woke me up again in the middle of the night because it was itching/hurting. We had been putting lavender and melaleuca oils that sorta help (I think more of a placebo but whatevs.) Worse comes to worse it will go away so...
